He had been burning ditches in the afternoon when he made a 911 call at approximately 2:09 p.m. for assistance to contain the fire. When Grand Fire personnel arrived on the scene, they immediately located McClelland laying near the roadway in close proximity to the agricultural burn.
The fire was contained in ditches in the area and was controlled by Grand Fire without the additional spread. Cause of death for McClelland is still being jointly investigated with Grand County Sheriff’s Office and Grand County Coroner’s Office. McClelland was a former Grand County Judge and is currently the Municipal Judge for the Town of Kremmling and the Town of Hot Sulphur Springs.
