The annual Demolition Derby will have a new look this year with the retirement of long time producers Will and Becca Jones of Get Smashed, Inc.

The Kremmling natives ran the Derby for 11 years and continued to run it even after their move to Wyoming. Becca says of their Get Smashed, Inc business, “We want to slowly start scaling back. It is so much for work us and we are so far away it makes it pretty difficult for us. It is time for us to concentrate on our diesel shop, Automotive Diesel Solutions. It’s growing, and we are super excited about it.”

The event began in 2006 as a fundraiser for the Middle Park Fair and Rodeo, and after the involvement of Blue Valley Ranch, it continued to grow. Lurline Underbrink Curran, County Manager at the time, also worked tirelessly behind the scenes at the county level to ensure its success.

The annual Derby eventually became the Grand Finale to the fair in August and became the largest event in Kremmling. According to Kremmling Chamber Director, Shelly McManus, “It can more than double the population of Kremmling for the night with attendance of over 2,500 people.”

“We are willing to help train the new organizers,” said Becca, “We love the Derby, and we love Kremmling. We want to see the event in good hands.”

Fair Board President Robert Nelson said, “We owe Will and Becca a huge debt of gratitude for the many years they have devoted to the successful production of the Demo Derby. Their involvement has made the Demo Derby one of the premier events in Grand County and of the Middle Park Fair and Rodeo.”

The Fair Board is looking for new producers of this yearly event. Interested parties should contact the Fair Board for more information. middleparkfairandrodeo@gmail.com
