The Town of Hot Sulphur Springs (HSS) reported that a water system recently violated a drinking water standard. Although this incident was not an emergency, the Town of HSS wanted to inform their customers steps being taken to correct the situation.

Lead and copper testing results on June 28, 2016 showed that the system exceeded the standard, or action level exceedance for lead. The level of lead at two of the ten sample sites was above the action exceedance level. Once that State mandated level is exceeded by the 90th percent of samples, the water system is bound by additional requirements of testing and increased sampling, public notification and education, water quality monitoring and water treatment process changes if necessary. The Town of Hot Sulphur Springs will continue to add information on the Town’s website at www.hotsulphursprjngsco.com as tests are conducted on the distribution system. The Town of Hot Sulphur Springs Staff takes all health concerns seriously and will continue proactive testing of water quality. Residents do not need to boil your water or take other corrective actions at this time. The Town of HSS will continue to address this problem over the next six to twelve months. The town anticipates additional testing to be completed by June of 2017.
