Mountain Mama’s Embroidery & Screen Printing seems to be destined to be owned and operated by mother and daughter duos. Earlier this spring, Dawna Heller and her mom, Diana Carpenter purchased the business from mother and daughter pair Sandy Hill and Skylar Carpenter.

“We were fortunate to buy an established family business, and Skylar and Sandy built a strong business with a loyal clientele,” said Dawna, “And they did a nice pass onto us and are still available to help us if we need something.”

Mountain Mama’s Embroidery & Screen Printing was established 15 years ago in the Hill home. Today it is located in a home shop just north of Kremmling.

“I am fortunate to work with my mother and get to still be with my kids,” Dawna commented of her one year old daughter and three year old son. Dawna and Diane were no strangers to retail or working together. The Carpenter family had spent many hours in Tri-River Ace, and Dawna also spent time in Oceanside, CA in logistics and as a buyer for Spy Optics and No Fear. She brought this experience back with her to Kremmling to “be with her people” and return to her hometown. Because of her experience with Spy Optics and No Fear, Dawna saw their merchandise as a retail product as well as a product for customers. “It really sparked my passion for retail,” she said.

“And we have been able to sell our product to retailers to be resold.” However, Dawna admits that the creative side of the business also appeals to her. Mountain Mama’s Embroidery & Screen Printing strives to create extraordinary and innovative product, that help promote businesses, events, or messages.

“I love to meet with my clients to explore ideas for design, artwork, slogans and logo placement. We will often work with local graphic designers to develop the right artwork for the business.” Then when the idea is conceived and ready to be put into action, Dawna usually does the digitizing while Diane does the embroidery. “We offer a specialized service with a quick turn around,” Dawna says.

“We are getting more and more customers from across the county and into Steamboat and Summit county because we can quickly deliver a quality product that is affordable.”

During the Christmas season, Dawna and Diane even hired extra help to be able to continue to meet the needs of their clients. Mountain Mama’s offers embroidery, digitizing, screen printing, event marketing, stitch work and promotional items, whatever items you need Dawna will help you locate it. Dawna and Diane provide their customers with the most creative ideas, the highest quality products, amazing apparel, best prices, and a worry free experience.

“No orders are too big or small. Adding a new double head embroidery machine we have been able to compete with large production orders while serving our customers with custom small orders. Our goal is to grow our business and keep adding more innovative and up to date technologies.

To help promote and grow other local business alongside ours. We love serving our community and our customers,” the mother and daughter duo agree.
