Motorcycle VS Guardrail Fatal Crash

On Tuesday July 31, 2018 at approximately 14:37 hours Troopers responded to a single occupant motorcycle fatal crash, Highway 40 milepost 214. This location is approximately 1 miles east of Granby, in Grand County, Colorado.

A blue 1999 BMW motorcycle was eastbound on Highway 40 near milepost 214. The 1999 BMW was driven by a 69 year old male out of Massachusetts. The motorcycle drove off the right side of the road and collided with the guardrail. The rider was ejected after impact with the guardrail. The driver was transported to Middle Park Medical where he was pronounced dead. The driver was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. 

The drivers name is being withheld pending next of kin is notification.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Colorado State Patrol. Speed and impairment are NOT suspected as contributing factors in the crash.  The roadway was dry at the time of the crash and no adverse weather conditions were noted in the immediate area.
