The Mustangs went up against the Farmers from Sargent this past week and it was not a game to miss.

Mustangs scored the first touchdown as they sent Luis Dominguez on a Quarterback trap. The two point conversion was an option from Luis Dominguez to Hugh Wheatley with Wheatley catching the ball just in bounds.

This really got the Mustangs excited. The Mustangs kicked the ball off and went back out on defense they had some great stops but the Farmers were able to get just enough yards to get their first Touchdown. The two point conversion was caught and the Farmers tied with the Mustangs. Both the Mustangs and the Farmers were able to get another touchdown in before half time. The halftime score was 16 to 16.

The Mustangs went inside and when they came back out they were rearing to go Mustangs came out strong and got back in the lead. They were able to complete another touchdown and stick the two pointer. The Farmers were able to keep their heads high and stay in the game. The Farmers slipped past the Mustangs’ defense to get another touchdown. They tied it up with a two point conversion.

The Mustangs and the Farmers went into the fourth quarter tied at 24 points. They kept fighting strong both on defense and on offense.

The Mustangs were able to get one more touchdown in with 6 minutes left in the final quarter. Sadly the Mustangs were not able to stick the two pointer in. The game was coming down to the final minute The Mustangs were leading the game by six points but the Farmers were creeping their way into the end zone. The Farmers got all the way to the 3 yard line. There was .6 seconds left on the clock.

The Farmers called a timeout there was just enough time to get one more play off. The Farmers ran it right outside their man on the end but were quickly met up with many of the Mustangs’ defensemen they were barely kept out. The Mustangs kept fighting till the very end and it paid off. The Mustangs got to the semifinals. They will face the Soroco Rams this Saturday, November 18 at 1pm in Oak Creek. The Mustangs beat them earlier in the regular season with a shut-out of 54-0. These next couple weeks are do or die for both teams so Mustangs are going to have to put up a great fight to stay in the game.
