At the 2018 prom, which was held at the Bumgarner Building on April 28, Sydney Ritschard and Kolby Hester were crowned prom queen and king while Morgan Jones and Travis Barnes took home the titles of prom princess and prince.

In recent years, and due to the small size of classes at West Grand, sophomores and above have been allowed to attend the event. The prom’s theme this year, chosen by the junior class prom committee, was “Beauty and the Beast” and all those in attendance, including a headcount of over 85 non-staff attendees, even those who graduated at semester, freshman who were invited by a sophomore or above, a few faces from other schools, and even older dates of upperclassmen that West Grand students brought as dates were able to attend the festivity and enjoy the dinner, drinks, and dancing that came with the festivity. The Grand Old West catered steak and chicken along with a plethora of delicious sides and salads, while many chaperones, including Shavann Dominguez, Linda Manguso, Jodi Docheff, Taryan Edson, Kendra Bock, Kim Douglas, Leslie Wood, Paula Belcher, and Caroline Smith supplied snacks, desserts, and drinks for the event. The staff chaperons included Jen Stuart, Junior class sponsor and overseer for prom committee Mike Wilson, Ryan Tripicchio, Angie Munoz, Shannon Barsy, Lori Haack, and Elizabeth Bauer Overall the night was full of good laughs, awesome music, and the west grand student body and their dates making awesome lifelong high school memories. The After prom party was held at the middle school after the dance ended, where students were given breakfast food, photo booths, and many different fun games to stay entertained for the night. Overall prom 2018 was a fun and unforgettable experience for all who were there. The Junior class was responsible for the set up and organization of the prom as it is always up to the junior class each year to put on an awesome prom. Here’s to hoping that the upcoming junior class will do just as good
