“Kremmling is our home, why wouldn’t I want to make it safer?” says newly sworn in Kremmling Police Officer Jared Sralla. Sralla’s wife Rachel, a Colorado Parks and Wildlife, District Wildlife Manager, moved to Kremmling in 2013 and Sralla followed shortly. The two were married and now call Kremmling their home. They both enjoy their menagerie of dogs, horses and chickens and enjoy hunting and hiking the Kremmling area. Sralla also enjoys dirtbiking and snowmobiling.
Adventure comes easily to Kremmling’s newest addition to the police force. In the Colorado police Academy, he easily completed the driving maneuvers and marksmanship course work and was ranked in the top of his class academically.
He admits he may have had a slight advantage in the Academy. He had previously served as a law enforcement officer in his home state of Texas in Harris County and was a graduate of the Texas Police Academy.
He is also an Army veteran. He enlisted in the Army after his high school graduation in 1999 and served from 2000-2009 in the infantry and as a combat medic.
After serving as a Deputy in Texas, Sralla was led in to the oil and gas fields of Texas where he worked in an engineering capacity. After his move to Kremmling, he worked offshore for seven months of the year. Now he is ready to serve again. “It is a good job with good benefits,” he says of his new position, “it is also an opportunity to stay mobile and be pro-active.”
Sralla fills the vacancy of Charles Jones who recently left the Kremmling Police Department to work at the Grand County Sheriff’s Office.The Kremmling Police Department staffs four full-time officers.
