Recently, the County Manager informed the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) that organizational changes within Grand County would be identified and implemented during the first six months of 2017. This revised organizational structure resulting from this process would be the basis for the county budget in 2018. Currently, the county is considering combining the Department of Juvenile Services and the Department of Social Services into a proposed “Department of Human Services.”

A revised job description of the proposed “Director of Human Services” is currently being drafted. Once this draft is approved by the County Manager, the position will be advertised both internally (current county workforce) and externally for a period of 3-4 weeks. The job posting is expected to be released in early January 2017.

Following the advertising period, a selection panel will conduct interviews and make recommendations to County Manager Lee Staab, who will make the final decision. The selection panel being considered will include official(s) from the Colorado State Department of Social Services, Social/Human Services directors from adjacent counties, officials from Juvenile Services and officials from within Grand County. The final panel is expected to have six members.

All citizens within Grand County are encouraged to view the job posting when released and apply if qualified. Glenn Campbell has been the Director of Social Services since 2007 and announced his intentions to retire earlier this fall. He will officially retire in April of 2017.
