Grand County Library District

The Friends of Grand County Library are not a typical fundraising group. They are the tour de force of fundraising groups. In 2018, they will contribute over $30,000 to the Grand County Library District. Those funds pay for all of the District’s programs, from craft-making cotton balls to special speakers, authors, and performers. The Friends also greatly enhance the book-buying budget to keep those new best-sellers coming.

Who are these Friends? And how can you become one? The Friends of the Library formed in 1984 to help support the libraries. They are retirees, parents, professionals, and part-time residents who believe in the importance of a strong and relevant library. The Friends is a membership organization. Memberships start at just $25 per year. Most of the heavy lifting (and pancake flipping, book hauling, and donation requesting) is done by the Friends Board, a dedicated nine-person group of volunteers from all over the county.

In addition to membership, you can support the Friends by attending one of their amazing events. Have some fun and support the libraries at the same time—and perhaps meet other likeminded book lovers while you are at it.

• July 4th: Granby Library Annual Used Book Sale

• July 7th, 2018: TOPS of the Rockies at the Grand Lake Yacht Club. Tickets are required for this one-of-akind live auction event at one of Grand Lake’s most breathtaking venues.
