Flipped by Design, a new business now adorns Kremmling’s main entry along Highway 9, and owner Debbi LaManna is already doing brisk business.

The name of the boutique suggests LaManna’s specialty of upscaling and repurposing furniture and household items, but she also offers home décor and holiday decorations. Flipped by Design will also feature the art work of local painter Bill Janson and other consignors.

“I have been painting furniture for years, using my kitchen, living room and dining room and other small spaces. I would be flipping one to three pieces at a time, and I thought I would get a space to flip furniture. I then thought I would add home décor and unique gifts and try more of a boutique and go retail,” said LaManna.

LaManna’s love of repurposing furniture began over thirty years ago when she was living in her home state of New Hampshire. An antique cabinet had been discarded by the road, and LaManna recalls her passion beginning as she rescued the cabinet and upscaled it with a little paint and restoration.
LaManna uses a large palette of colors to refinish and refine her projects, but says she favors a mountain rustic or distressed vintage finish.

LaManna also enjoys upcycling or repurposing. In her main display room, she has turned a bookcase on its side and added a base to create an interesting display and focal point. She also dabbles in jewelry making and creating centerpieces.

“I enjoy upscaling, I will take old pieces of wood to create coat racks, shelves and different things. I also turned this cutting board into a cute tray,” commented LaManna.

With a degree in interior design, LaManna is also available to create a custom look for your home by decorating and custom shopping. She is also available to help decorate for the holidays.

“I go to markets all the time. If someone sent me a picture of the mantle they wanted to decorate, I could create a unique look for them. I can also update their look for their home by using what they already have and by finding some new items. We wouldn’t need to knock down a wall to create a new look,” said 9. LaManna of her passion. Thanksgiving weekend is full of special deals. For Shop
