Climax Molybdenum – Henderson Operations (“Henderson”) has been a valued member of the Grand County community for over forty years. They have provided many high-level jobs, and given generously of their time and monies to make Grand County a better place to live and work. So, when Henderson recently asked the Grand County Board of County Commissioners (“Board”) for some financial relief in the form of reducing their Mine by Proceeds Averaging Valuation from five-year to year-by-year valuation, the Board was willing to listen. The Board felt it was reasonable to meet Henderson half-way and made a decision to change the current five-year averaging to three-year averaging beginning with 2016 taxes collected in 2017. Recently, there has been much discussion and some additional information provided regarding this process. The Grand County Board of County Commissioners have listened carefully, evaluated this information and stands behind their original decision.
