War of the Roses, an all girl wrestling tournament, is slated for Kremmling on Sunday, December 10. The tournament will be held at the West Grand High School and will host girls in grades kindergarten -12th from across the state of Colorado. All participants must have a current USA card.
Admission at the door will be $10 at the door only, $5 for kids five years of age or older. It will also feature a wrestling clinic from 9am-10 am after weigh-ins. The clinician Matthew Peath is the Otero Junior College wrestling head coach and the Colorado USA Wrestling Cadet Director.
All girls are invited to wrestle in the tournament. This tournament is a round robin event, and every wrestler will receive a medal.
To prepare for the tournament, wrestling practice is being held in the high school wrestling room on Mondays and Thursdays at 6 p.m.
Colorado is on the leading edge in girls’ wrestling and it is predicted that it will be CHSAA approved high school sport in 2020.
