Recently accepted to Northeastern Junior College, Hailey McNichols has been honing her volleyball skills since the 5th grade. McNichols explains, “Volleyball is the sport that I love.”

McNichols plays for the West Grand volleyball team, as well as participating in track, basketball, and weightlifting. “You have to push yourself to your highest potential,” she says. “That will help you continue to improve your choice of sport.”

McNichols attributes her drive to coach Liz Bauer, insisting, “She really pushed me to be my best.” Coach Bauer , “Hailey is a talented young woman with a lot of potential. I’m so proud of her and know that she can achieve what she puts her mind to.”

This fall, McNichols is putting her mind to college, having caught the eye of Northeastern’s head volleyball coach, Jessica Squier, who says, “I’m familiar with West Grand’s tradition of athletic talent. Hailey’s very athletic, and she’s also cool and calm on the court while competing. We’re really excited to have her on the team next year.”

In addition to playing volleyball for Northeastern, McNichols is planning to focus on another of her passions: “I know it’s weird, but I love teeth,” she laughs. McNichols plans to study dental hygiene, ultimately transferring to a larger university, putting her work ethic and determination toward her bright, shining future.
