Rocky Mountain Repertory Theater Education Director dismissed from his position after allegations of sexual assault to a minor

Rocky Mountain Repertory Theater families were notified on Wednesday, September 18 that Joel Ewing, 40, who was employed in a part-time capacity by Rocky Mountain Repertory Theater as Education Director for many years was dismissed from his position after allegations of sexual assault to a minor surfaced in Chicago. He could face multiple felonies from the charges.

The Chicago Times reported that Ewing admitted to assaulting the now 21-year old woman who was 15 when she began receiving texts from Ewing that “were of a romantic nature.”  He was a theaters teacher with the Chicago Public Schools when the alleged assault took place.

Ewing lives in West Ridge, Illinois but resided in Grand Lake, Colorado during the summer and assisted at the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theater.  He has been married for 14 years and has a small child.
